With autonomous technology, words matter Today, the Obama administration announced new guidelines for automakers selling vehicles with self-driving, or autonomous capabilities. Manufacturers will be asked to evaluate and accurately describe their vehicle's self-driving systems' design, their validation testing, how the feature is actuated and safety precautions in the field, all before those systems can go on sale to the public and used on public roads.
