Galaxy Note8 on Verizon gets camera improvements and KRACK fix with new update If you bought a Galaxy Note8 on Big Red, be sure to check your phone for updates. Verizon has announced it is rolling out an update for the Note8, containing changes to the camera app and various security fixes. The update has a build number of "NMF26X.N950USQU2BQJA," and includes the October 1 security patch level (an entire month behind, well done Verizon) and the fix for KRACK vulnerabilities. Beyond the security patches, there are a few modifications to the camera app.   When using the 'Live Focus' mode, the ready message is now bright yellow, the light and distance information is easier to read, and the back button now takes you back to the normal camera mode. Definitely small improvements, but if you're hopping on the portrait photo trend, these will be helpful changes. Future smartphones could fully charge in minutes with Samsung's new battery technology Samsung's Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) has developed a new battery technology with more capacity and extremely fast charging times.  The new graphene-based technology could charge a battery in 12 minutes, where the same capacity battery could charge in an hour with standard fast charging.  It could remove the risk of ever running out of battery simply because it could be more convenient to charge your devices.  Samsung's Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) announced on Tuesday that it has developed a battery technology that can fast-charge mobile devices and electric vehicles faster than ever before.  For a battery that usually takes an hour to charge with current fast-charge technology, Samsung claims the new technology could fast-charge a battery in 12 minutes.  Current fast charging is great, but Samsung's new battery could charge significantly faster. Definition drama Every subculture develops its own jargon. In fact, often a good way to ascertain that something has gone on to become a well-established and unique subculture is to check if it has developed an argot or slang of its own. Where everyone within the subculture understands it, and those outside the will look completely nonplussed. Take the subculture of quizzing for example. Regular quizzers will not bat an eyelid at terms and phrases like ‘bounce’, ‘infinite pounce’, ‘Peter’, etc. Very often, people try their hardest to create new slang, because they instinctively understand the value it has in creating a subculture. One sees this very often on social media outlets such as Twitter, where people who want to be seen as influencers, or already are, constantly create new words and hashtags that they hope become part of the slang on the social network. I have been talking of startups as a culture or a subculture often in these columns, without having paid too much attent
